The aviation industry is progressing very fast in our country with privatization and foreign collaboration increasing day by day due to open sky policy of our Government. There is an endless demand for Air Hostess / Flight Stewards and travel professionals to meet the growing requirement.

Sectors with job opportunities after training

Airline Industry : Traffic assistants' reservation and counter executives, Airhostess and flight stewards, sales executives, airport duty officer and at airline personal call centres etc

Travel agencies and Tours operators : Reservation and counter executives, clearing & forwarding agents, sales & marketing executives etc

Hotels : Tours operators, travel consultants, front office executives/assistants, relation managers and captains.

Cruise Ship & Cargo Agencies : Stewards/Stewardess, customer service executives, F& B co-ordinator, administrator, sales / space booking etc.

A career as an Air Hostess and Flight Steward would last for about eight to ten years, after which they could move to the ground duties jobs such as Ground Hostess, Check-in-Staff etc or they can be sent into any other department in the airline industry.

There is an increasing demand for trained staff in various fields. This professional qualification shall be like passport for you on your way to successful career in air lines, airports, hotels/motels, travel agencies, cruise ships, tour operators, call centre etc. After training for travel & tourism management one can expect to get jobs at the earliest. After successful completion of this training, candidates can apply to the various Indian and foreign airlines for travel professional or air ticketing staff jobs. PPL holders with a FRTO licence can fly as pilots-in-command and carry passengers throughout India and abroad with proper permission. Further a PPL holder can undergo training for CPL to become a professional pilot and join as a pilot officer and work with on of the employer companies like Air India Airlines, Vayudoot, Coast Guard, ONGC agriculture aviation, Flight services of state governments and other major companies, Private airlines and of course hundreds of foreign airlines. A pilot can also find jobs of aerial photography, aerial display /advertisements etc, or become a test pilot, check pilot or a pilot instructor and ground executive like Airport manager etc. Throughout the aviation world by conservative predictions there will be more than 96% of employment available for the pilot licence holders in domestic as well as international airlines operating from India. Other avenues for pilot are with private / corporate aircraft owners, B.S.F and flight schools.

Expected Salaries

The salary for a cabin crew member could be approximately 35,000 and above depending upon the skills and abilities of the candidate and the airlines concerned.

Job in Airport, Hotel, Travel & tourism, sector offers good salaries along with perquisites. The monthly salaries may be between Rs. 15,000 to 40,000 per month with allowances

Pilots are highly paid professional when compared to employees in other sectors in India. Starting with a salary of Rs. 60,000 per month approximately up to 3.5 lacks could be earned. In a short span of time, a pilot can be promoted as co- pilot and then to captain's post where the salaries are in the range of 1.5 lacks to 3.5 lacks per month depending on the airlines.
